GATINEAU, QC, Jan. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Transportation Safety Board of
Canada (TSB) is deploying a team to the site of a rail accident near
Paynton, Saskatchewan. At approximately 08:00 MST, a CN freight train
struck a road grader. The locomotive and 16 cars derailed, including
some carrying heavy fuel oil. The TSB will gather information and
assess the occurrence.
The TSB is an independent agency that advances transportation safety by
investigating occurrences in the marine, pipeline, rail and air modes
of transportation. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation
safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or
determine civil or criminal liability.
