MONTREAL, Nov. 29, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Aéro Montréal, Québec's aerospace
cluster, is pleased with the filing of the Emerson Report and supports
the main priorities revealed at this morning's press conference in
Ottawa.
The Honourable David Emerson's report, titled "Beyond the Horizon:
Canada's Interests and Future in Aerospace," stems from the work of the
Aerospace Review mandated by the Government of Canada and in which Aéro
Montréal is proud to have taken part.
According to Gilles Labbé, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aéro
Montréal and President and CEO of Héroux-Devtek: "Mr. Emerson
accurately pinpoints the aerospace industry's critical issues, and
recognizes the importance for the Government of Canada to prioritize
this growth industry that is essential to Canada's economy."
In an increasingly competitive, changing global context, the report lays
a strong foundation for the cooperation of government and industry in
optimizing the sector's growth.
"Given Québec's major role in the Canadian aerospace industry, we would
like to assure the Canadian government of our support, as a partner, in
the follow-up to this report," said Suzanne Benoît, President of Aéro
Montréal.
As a strategic think tank, Aéro Montréal would like to congratulate the
Honourable David Emerson for his contribution to the development of our
industry. The cluster and its members also thank the Government of
Canada and the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry and
the Minister of State, for their vision in launching the aerospace
policy review process.
