ATLANTA, Ga.—UPS has pledged US $1.5 million in cash and in-kind support to aid in the recovery efforts following the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy that struck the northeast corridor of the US last week.
In addition, the company stated that all UPS package, freight and logistics operations have been restored and that UPS employees throughout the region “were working diligently to provide service to the affected areas, although many businesses remain closed and some locations are inaccessible.”
“The determination and caring spirit of UPSers has never been more evident,” said Scott Davis, UPS chairman and CEO.
UPS’s financial and in-kind contribution is comprised of a $250,000 grant to the American Red Cross to help with the sheltering needs of the victims of Sandy, $250,000 in logistical aid for urgent response and an additional $1 million in cash and in-kind support to a variety of relief organizations throughout 2013 to assist in the long-term recovery of communities affected by the storm.
