CALGARY, Alta. -- Cole International has acquired Cataract Customshouse Brokerage of Grand Island, N.Y. Established in 1988, Cataract maintains US customs brokerage offices at the Buffalo, N.Y. and Port Huron (Detroit), Mich. border crossings. With a staff of approximately 25, the new offices will provide extended-hours service at Buffalo and 24/7 service at Port Huron.
“In acquiring this longstanding US northern border broker, well known for its technical talent, a solid reputation in compliance and excellent client service, Cole can provide an expanded single-source supply-chain program combining both Canadian and US customs clearance, to and from our largest trading partner, the USA,” Cole officials said in a release.
Cole has also opened a new office situated at the Blaine, Wash. border crossing. Located just south of Vancouver, the major US crossing serves as the primary route into the Pacific Northwest and California.
“This new office will complete a chain of strategic US northern border offices spanning from the west coast to Quebec border,” Cole officials said in a release. “In addition, our RLF (Remote Location Filing) capabilities allow us to transmit customs entries to ports across the USA.”
