VANCOUVER, B.C. -- The Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) and the Custom Brokers and Forwarders Council (CBFCA) of Australia have reached an exceptional partnership in education and training.

CIFFA has negotiated access rights to its education programs (textbooks and workbooks) to the CBFCA to assist them in the development and delivery of professional vocational training in international freight forwarding for the industry in Australia.

CIFFA president Robert Walker made the announcement at the FIATA 2008 World Congress in Vancouver.

"Both of our organizations recognize the importance of education in supporting our members as they provide the highest level of quality and professional services to their clients," Walker said. "To that end the CIFFA board of directors is pleased to advance this partnership with our Australian counterparts."

Darryl Sharp, chairman of CBFCA, joined Walker in expressing his pleasure at having the opportunity to provide the high calibre of education and training modules developed by the Canadian association. "Our organization is founded on the fundamentals of meeting members' challenges in changing business environments. Our members will benefit tremendously from having access to this high quality education and training material which will form the basis of a national course of study in Australia."

The National Freight Forwarding Course in Australia, designed using the CIFFA education and training materials, will be the first of its kind in Australia and will raise the profile of international freight forwarding in that country, officials said.
