On January 24, the Council of Supply Chain Management is holding a Toronto roundtable on fuel pricing and subsequent surcharges, which in 2006, are expected to present a major challenge for the Canadian supply chain community. Scheduled speakers at the roundtable, both experts in their fields, will examine the geopolitical and economic factors affecting supply chain costs and efficiency. Faith Goodman is the Vice President of the Ontario division of the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute (CPPI), and she is scheduled to provide an in depth explanation on the issues that impact the price of fuels from a global, North American, and regional basis. Dave Sirgey is the President of the Freight Carrier Association of Canada and the North American Transportation Council, and he will provide his insights on how these higher fuel costs translate into fuel surcharges that affect both shippers and carriers. Both speakers will present risk mitigation strategies that can be adopted by both shippers and carriers to reduce over all supply chain costs. Tickets are $70.00 (GST included) in advance and $80.00 (GST included) at the door.
